Egton Show 2012
At the Egton Show this year Whitby Evangelical Church had a tent. Throughout the day a willing group of volunteers from church helped to provide coffee and biscuits to people we invited into the tent, spoke to people who passed the tent and gave out tracts, booklets and bibles to those who we got into conversation about the Christian faith. The weather was good and we had a prime spot just at the edge of the main showjumping and presenting ring. The group were busy all day with a continuous flow of visitors coming to speak to us. Some were old friends and people we have had contect with in previous years, but many were people with little or no Christian background and we were able to talk and witness to them freely.
Many of the people we spoke to showed a real interest in what the gospel says. Some asked us to pray with them and for them. Others took literature to read. Others, who were already Christians, came up to make themselves known and encouraged us to continue the work. At the end of the day all the volunteers looked back and declared it a very profitable and worthwhile day. The Lord obviously blessed us with good weather, volunteers and fellowship in the gospel, but even more by His presence with us. Please pray that this initiative of the church would bear much fruit in the lives of those we were able to witness to, and that God will meet with them as they seek him.
Thank you to all those who helped us on the day and those who supported by visiting and encouraging us.
We were also able to see Tom (see below) win a showjumping competition in the main ring. Congratulations!
